PowerData™ Database Design Service Overview

Linux (PHP/MySQL and Dreamweaver) Most of my work is done in this format. I use PHP and MySQL (no additional cost to host). View the PowerLogIn™ Customized login system with private content, full AJAX customized security for forms and databases. I make extensive use of PHP on that part of the site.

The demo is a mySQL database processor written in php. I used the DataPower package to create it. To see how it works go to the links below.

The pages have an HTML part that you can see plus a PHP part that you can not see. It contains comprehensive standard PHP/MySQL/JavaScript security called AJAX. This prevents SQL injection plus unauthorized access. This is for demonstration purposes only. There are also restrictions placed on the guest users by the database administrator (The Rochester Web Wizard).

Even though the database is not valuable, it does contain complete security featues. It is for demonstration purposes only!!!! If the database is abused in any way, it will be closed and removed from the web site. Only registered users have access to the application.

Try the various custom search features listed on the home page. They are not meant to be realistic examples. They are constructed so that you may observe the maximum number of available options. There is a very complicated custom search. It shows most of the options available. If you test multiple field values at the same time then you may need to review your logic rules from programming or high school math class to know whether it worked. I can assure you that it does. When you string AND and OR together the hierarchy can be very hard to follow. You can test one at a time or several together and leave others blank. You can enter single letters or longer strings of characters in the search forms. It is not meant to be practical but just to demonstarte the search options that can be done.

You should probably use Linux hosting anyway because it is much cheaper and 85% of the Internet supports it. I have extensive examples of MySQL reports and queries as well as HTML form submission with PHP and JavaScript security features and an application that downloads a MySQL table to your desktop as an Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. All file manipulation is done through PHP so you don't need to know anything about MySQL to use the databases! All databases include a client login system and an admininistrative back end login section to maintain your database. You also need a MySQL database and an SSL certificate to set up any online store.

Only the email address and password are required to register. All other information is optional. The following major features are demonstrated. Search and Insert forms offer optional dropdown lists either static or dynamic from a database. You can also add an auto-respond email feature when submitting a form. Custom queries can include the following Search Comparisons: (Selects the type of comparison to be made.) Comparisons against a string can be made using Equals, Begins With, Ends With, or Includes (Case Sensitive). Comparisons against a date or numeric value can be made using equals, greater than, greater than or equal to, less than, and less than or equal to.

The simple registration form only requires registrants to enter their email and a password to register, while the full registration form requires more specific details such as first and last name, phone number, address, city, state, zip country, etc…

Email form features:

CAPTCHA, which stands for Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart, is a technology used to discriminate between human users and machine users in order to prevent spamming sites from using web robots to send spam through your form.
Honeypots, which are hidden form fields that cannot be seen by a human filling out the form and therefore if anything is entered into one of these fields it is assumed that a web robot is attempting to submit the form by entering information in all form fields. If so the form will not submit.
As another layer of security the contact form is set up to provide a random question such as “Is fire hot or cold.” The individual completing the form simply enters the appropriate text, in this case hot, so that the form can be submitted. If text other than hot is entered then the form will not be submitted.
